Where and when will the second and third Masters of the Valorant Champions Tour 2022 take place? In the past weeks there was a lot of speculation in the scene. Riot Games has now let the cat out of the bag.
It was already clear that both tournaments will be played as LAN offline events, i.e. with spectators in the hall and the highlights will probably take place in Europe. And that’s exactly what happened. Riot Games has chosen Copenhagen and Istanbul as venues.
Information about the tournaments in Copenhagen and Istanbul
Both cities have a huge fan and player potential. In addition, Riot Games expects spectators to come to Copenhagen and Istanbul from all over Europe. It is therefore no surprise that the decision has made positive headlines in Denmark and Turkey.
The Valorant Masters Copenhagen 2022 will be held in July. The twelve best teams of the Valorant Champions Tour will be at the start. The last Masters of the year will be held in Turkey in September and will be even more extensive, with 16 eSports clans on the schedule. 10 teams will qualify through the familiar, direct route. Another six participants will be determined at the Last Chance Qualifiers in August.

Riot Games’ statement
Riot Games chose Copenhagen and Istanbul for a reason. Both cities have a large eSports fan community and also numerous, active players. The LAN events are the right, logical decision. The organizer commented on his choice of cities as follows:
“Our goal is to see our biggest international events in front of a live audience, and these two cities offer clear paths to that goal while providing the best possible guarantee that all qualified teams can safely attend and compete. We are pleased to announce the initial details of these two events and will provide more information in the coming weeks.”
Review of the Masters in Iceland
The first Masters of the Valorant Series was played in Iceland in April. There were 12 teams competing in Reykjavik. There have been numerous surprises in matches. Some top favorites like Ninjas in Pyjamas or Xerxia were eliminated early. Team Liquid, on the other hand, played a super strong group stage, but then was immediately eliminated in the double elimination playoffs after losses to Loud and Zeta Division.
The North America Challenger winner – The Guard – was also out early. The eSport Clan lost to tournament winner OpTic, who they had beaten in the North American elimination.
OpTic ultimately deservedly took the win to North America. The team delivered the most consistent and best performance in Reykjavik. In the final, the clan defeated the Brazilians from Loud 3-0, with the South Americans certainly being the biggest surprise at Iceland Masters 2022.
Valorant Champions Tour 2023 in a new format
By the way, it is already clear that the Valorant Champions Tour 2023 will be played in a new format. Riot Games announced that for next season’s VCT there will be a complete restructuring of the competition. Specifically, VALORANT will add new international leagues and expand its existing Game Changer and Challengers systems.
