Teleperformance launches its own eSports arena in Lisbon

The interest of the media was huge. At the end of May, Teleperformance opened its own eSports arena in Lisbon.

The company has invested 1.2 million euros in the new location, which will be used for various purposes in the coming months and years.

At the same time, Teleperformance has made it clear that it intends to invest even more sustainably in the eSports scene in the future and meanwhile also has its own aspirations.

The facts about the new eSport arena

The new arena was officially presented and inaugurated by Teleperformance during the eSports convention. The owners came up with something very special for it: In a CS:GO Counter Strike show match, the clans of MIBR and OG faced each other. OG won the match and was rewarded by Teleperformance with prize money of 23,700 euros.

The new gaming area in Lisbon is not only suitable for Counter-Strike players. FIFA, Brawl Stars and Super Smash Bros were also played during the eSport convention. Everyone could participate in the smaller eSport tournaments. Additional panels on eSports and Metaverse offerings rounded out the teleperformance presentation.

The new gaming arena was embedded in the already existing office in Lisbon. This will be available to the public on a limited basis for the time being. The eSports room is primarily intended to appeal to the company’s own employees, who can host smaller events here. In addition, the arena will be offered as a training space for local teams. Since several professional clans have now set up camp in the Portuguese capital, there should certainly be no lack of interest.

Teleperformance plans its own team

In addition, it was announced that Teleperformance plans to launch its own eSports team in the foreseeable future. It is planned to create a FIFA line-up, which will enter the league system.

The actual business of the company

The €1.2 million investment in a professional eSports arena is certainly noteworthy, as it was made by a company that has not been a part of the eSports universe before.

Teleperformance was founded in France. The company has been around since 1978 and was founded by Daniel Julien, who still works for Teleperformance as its CEO. The headquarters of the company is located in Paris. Teleperformance shares are traded on the stock exchange of the French capital.

The company deals with professional omnichannel customer experience management. Teleperformance provides customer service, technical support and customer acquisition for their partners. The company works for Apple, Amazon and Uber, among others.

The service provider now has more than 420,000 employees working in 83 countries and 450 locations. It communicates with customers in 265 languages and dialects. Teleperformance is one of the global market leaders in outsourcing customer management.
