Rainbow 6 – Team GenG Establishes Dominance In North America

Another Regional Competition, another trip to the Gen.G grand finals, and another Regional triumph. Following a 2-1 Group Stage performance, Gen.G Mobil1 Racing went 15-3 in the Playoffs, culminating in a 4-1 victory over Complexity Gaming in the Grand Finals.

Even without Fall Major MVP Jack #ApparentlyJack Benton leading the charge, rookie standout Nick #Chronic Iwanski recorded a 1.211 rating, which placed him first on the team and third overall.

The Epic Run

Gen.G has now joined Team BDS (RLCS X Winter Regional 3, Winter Major, Spring Regional 1) and G2 Esports as the third European or North American team to sweep three consecutive RLCS competitions in the Circuit period (2021-22 Winter Major, Spring Regional 1, Spring Regional 2).

No team in North America or Europe has ever won a Regional and failed to qualify for that Split’s Major; they have already qualified for every Regional the remainder of the season (the first team to do so), and they are close to securing a second consecutive Major participation.

Some startling early departures have blasted open the Winter Major race behind Gen.G Mobil1 Racing. After failing to finish first in their groups and losing in the first round of the Playoffs, Version1 and FaZe Clan, who had both qualified for the past three Majors (four for FaZe Clan), placed ninth through twelfth.

What Comes Next?

Spacestation Gaming, which advanced to the semifinals of each Fall Regional, FURIA, and NRG all lost in the quarterfinals. This did not necessarily put an end to their chances of winning the Major, but each will strive for improved performance moving ahead.

Dignitas and G2 Esports lost in the semifinals, which is a good outcome for them, but they must be cautious not to lose in the first round of the following two competitions. Achieving the Grand Finals in a Split virtually ensures entry for the Major, which puts Complexity Gaming in a great position.
