LoL: Mikyx reviews why Fnatic went down in LEC Spring Split

With one week until the conclusion of the LEC Spring Split regular season, #Fnatic is still in contention for the next step of the competition. Following a disastrous showing in the Winter Split, the squad made some roster adjustments but began the split with a 0-3 week.

While the expectations put on Fnatic at the start of the season have already been shattered, the second split of the year has not yet concluded its normal season, and it appears that Fnatic are back in business. This past weekend, the squad defeated squad #Heretics and #KOI, keeping their prospects for the group stage alive, but their problems are far from resolved and the team needs to keep going forward in order to maintain their gameplay.

In a chat with Dot Esports, G2 Esports support Mihael #Mikyx Mehle explained why Fnatic’s split was failing.

Fnatic, according to Mihael #Mikyx Mehle, are “not very good” as a team, and while individual talents “occasionally” provide them with a few leads, they are not operating as a unified front on the Rift. Individual skills shine brightest in the mid lane, where Fnatic appears “fine” most of the time, but top and bot “don’t win that many lanes,” according to Mikyx. But that isn’t the only issue the G2 fan sees in his opponents.

“I believe their drafts, at least the majority of them,” Mikyx said. “I get the impression they don’t understand the meta.” Individually, they don’t always get enough advantages during laning stages, and as a team, they appear disconnected.” He then moved his focus to the matches won by the rival team, finding the reasons for Fnatic’s win over Heretics in the latter’s bad performance rather than the former’s ability.

Mikyx is not the only LEC player who has spoken out about Fnatic’s success and lineup. Wunder, Fnatic’s former top laner, stated earlier this week that he did not have much faith in the team’s current lineup, which led to his exit from Fnatic after the Winter Split. Prior to Wunder, Vitality mid laner Perkz commented on the changes Fnatic made to the squad ahead of the Spring Split, stating they make “no sense.” According to Perkz, Fnatic should have added a more experienced player to the squad to assist them out.

Despite the problems raised by other LEC pro players, Fnatic may make it past the regular stage if they maintain their confidence from the two victories last weekend. With everything on the line, Fnatic will have to first play MAD Lions, who are presently tied for seventh place. Then, on Saturday, they will face their historical foes G2 on the Rift before finishing the regular season against Astralis.

With the present standings, it is impossible to predict whether Fnatic will win or fail again.
