League of Legends – SK Gaming Making Big Roster Changes

There has been a significant amount of change since SK Gaming’s official League of Legends roster release yesterday.

It’s not surprising that SK management wanted to make adjustments moving into 2023 after the team finished seventh with a 7-11 record in both the LEC Spring and Summer Splits the previous season.

Thus, mid laner #Sertuss is the lone member of SK to have participated in the 2022 LEC Summer Split. However, the club’s management has worked hard to bring in reinforcements, and he will soon get new teammates whose goal is a much better position than the one achieved last year.

SK Gaming Getting Ready

A bot lane package deal will be joining him for the upcoming season as #Exakick and #Doss move to the LEC after winning back-to-back splits with LDLC OL in the French national league. The pair won their group at the European Masters 2022 Summer competition, going 5-1, before losing to Team Heretics, 3-1, in the semifinal match.

Their pickup on the top lane #Irrelevant landed from Misfits Gaming, where he was moved up to the LEC team during the Summer Split from the organisation’s academy team. For his first stint in the major leagues, he did well. With a 10-8 record, the team finished fourth before being swept by Fnatic in the playoffs.

Their last addition, #Markoon, the former jungler for team Excel, completes the lineup. With a 9-9 record and a narrow 3-2 series loss to Fnatic in the playoffs, they finished sixth in the 2022 LEC Summer Split.

According to Twitter user ExpressLOL, the new SK team is one of the least experienced groups in the league with a total of 135 LEC games played.  Although this stat may seem negative, it can have a great effect on the roster because it will relieve them of the pressure that is usually reserved for favorites, and let them focus on what really matters.

They will make their LEC debut on January 21, 2023, the first day of the Winter Split.

With more than a month until then, the players will have more than enough time to get to know each other and develop team chemistry. It will be interesting to see if the changes in SK Gaming will lead to the desired results, considering that on paper this is one of the best assembled rosters since the organization existed.
