This is Honor of Kings: World, a spectacular action RPG from Tencent
The mobile hit in Asia also wants to become a phenomenon in the West with this blockbuster that will reach several platforms in the future.
Tencent Games and developer TiMi Studio Group have announced Honor of Kings: World, an open-world action RPG based on the massive mobile hit Arena of Valor/Honor of Kings. While the smartphone title isn’t as popular outside of Asia, Honor of Kings: World does aim for a global and multi-platform release that hasn’t been revealed but we imagine will be PC and next-gen; we also don’t know its release date.
The companies are collaborating with sci-fi writer Liu Cixin, best known for The Three-Body Problem-which Netflix will bring to television with writers and producers David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo. Cixin will be in charge of bringing this vision of Japanese aesthetics and culture to a blockbuster that aims to become a new hit in the Chinese industry.
Arena of Valor, the original, is a battle game released in 2015 for iOS and Android. According to TiMi Studio Group it is the first game to achieve 100 million active users worldwide and year after year it ranks among the games with the highest revenue, so it seems obvious that Tencent wants to bring its potential to other types of systems more popular in the West.
Chinese industry wants to repeat the success of Genshin Impact
In our special dedicated to Chinese projects, we reviewed some of the most promising games that will arrive in the coming months and years, among which Honor of Kings: World should undoubtedly be added now. Genshin Impact is the first great example of how to bet on a worldwide success, and F.I.S.T: Forged in Shadow -already on sale- is a very remarkable metroidvania. Other highly anticipated games coming from this country are Lost Soul Aside, Bright Memory: Infinite or the spectacular Black Myth: Wukong.
