Galaxy Racer: Sponsorship with Canadian cricket team

Normally, we report in the news about new sponsorship deals that the eSport clans have landed. But it also goes in the other direction, as Galaxy Racer just proves. The Dubai-based eSports clan will be supporting the Canadian national cricket team in the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying tournament. We have the info for you.

Galaxy Racer’s involvement with Team Canada

The cricket elimination round will be played starting February 18. There will be two global qualifying tournaments. The Canadians are looking to qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The Galaxy Racers logo will be featured on all competition jerseys and all Canadian warm-up jerseys during the tournament. Already, there are signs of impact on Esports betting odds.

Comments from those in charge

Paul Roy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Racer, explained the involvement of an eSports association as follows:

“We are delighted to be working with Cricket Canada as we continue our convergence with eSports, gaming and traditional sports, which is part of our larger initiative working with major sports teams around the world, and we look forward to introducing a new young audience to the world of cricket. We believe that the convergence of traditional sports with eSports and gaming audiences is essential, and we will support Cricket Canada in accelerating cross-fertilization with the younger generation. All the best to Cricket Canada in the upcoming ICC World Cup. As the eSports community would say, GLHF (Good Luck, Have Fun).”

For the Canadian national cricket team, the sponsorship deal is also as significant as it is for the bookmakers, as evidenced by the statement from association president Rashpal Bajwa:

“Our organization welcomes the partnership with Galaxy Racer. Esports and gaming is a fast growing industry in the North American market and especially in Canada. Our players are avid gamers and compete almost daily in their free time on gaming consoles and platforms. This partnership is a natural fit for Cricket and Cricket Canada. Cricket Canada hopes that this engagement will be the cornerstone for additional collaboration between eSports and live sports in cricket.”

Dubai-based eSports clan on course for expansion anyway

The Galaxy Racers have already made headlines in the past year. They have invested ten million dollars in the Malaysian eSports scene. Further commitments are planned, both within the eSports world and outside it. Sponsoring the Canadian national cricket team is just the beginning.

Link between eSports and conventional sports is becoming stronger and stronger

Already in the last year, some eSports associations have begun to think outside the box, literally. Envy Gaming has taken over sponsorship from World Chase Tag Team GNF.

EVOS eSports has launched its own professional basketball team in Southeast Asia – the EVOS Thunder Bogor. The team will start its point game operations in the Indonesian Basketball League starting this year.

Our forecast for the coming years

In our forecast for eSports development, we assume that the links between eSports and conventional sports will become even stronger in the coming years. There are several eSports clans and organizers that have the financial potential to either sponsor or launch their own teams. The connections are logical. The eSport associations increase their popularity. New customer groups are addressed, which previously had little or nothing to do with eSports.
