Roobet Cup Playoffs Set To Begin

We are still going strong with the latest esports news, and this week we are reporting about the CS:GO Roobet Cup, which brings together 16 of the current best teams in the world, competing for a total $250,000 prize pool and the huge double-eared trophy. The Roobet Cup takes place online from June 22nd – June 30th.

Things are getting heated and since the elimination phase is over, let us give you an insight into what happened over the last weekend and what can you expect in the Roobet Cup Playoffs stage of the tournament.

Furia vs 9z

9z defeated FURIA 2-1 in the Group D tiebreaker match to advance to the quarterfinal of the Roobet Cup 2022.

Before being defeated on Ancient, the Andrei “arT” Piovezan-led team effectively converted their advantage on Overpass (16-11). (4-16). Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez and company were able to win the game in overtime by mounting a turnaround on the Terrorist side of Mirage (19-17).

Eternal Fire vs BIG

After three closely contested maps, the German team defeated Eternal Fire on 27th of June to advance to the next stage.

The Roobet Cup 2022 knockout round got really interesting after BIG defeated Eternal Fire 2-1 in their closely contested quarterfinal matchup by winning 16-10 on Overpass, losing 16-19 to Dust2, and then winning 16-7 on Nuke map.

After defeating Entropiq and the No. 1 team in the world, FaZe, 2-1, BIG maintained their outstanding performance in the online event with a victory against their Turkish opponents. The outcome of this match will creat a perfect intro to  a semi-final encounter against the victor of the quarter-final series between Cloud9 and 9z.

FaZe vs OG

After defeating OG in a match that lasted three maps, FaZe advanced to the quarterfinals of the Roobet Cup, denying the international team their chance to exact retribution for dropping them to the lower division in the Group A opening.

Due to the removal of Dust2 and Inferno in the 2nd round of banning after Mirage and Ancient were chosen, the veto this time around was very different from the first. The lone leftover map from the very first round, Overpass, which was won by FaZe in the opening game after a suspenseful 30 rounds, served as the match’s deciding factor.

Astralis vs Complexity

After finishing in second place in Group B, Astralis advanced to the Roobet Cup quarterfinals.

Even though they easily defeated Complexity 2-1 in the decisive match, they had some difficulty with their own map selection of Overpass. The Danish team will now advance to compete in the quarterfinal versus one of the group’s top-finishing teams.

The Conclusion
