Valorant – Big Roster Changes for Teams KOI & Evil Geniuses

All 30 associated teams in the Americas, #EMEA, and Pacific leagues can finally field a full starting squad following a protracted VALORANT offseason that ended before the beginning of the #VCT partnership era.

Former #Acend player and 2021 global champion Patryk #starxo Kopczyski has officially joined #KOI, the Spanish organization established by streaming sensation Ibai Llanos and renowned retired footballer Gerard Piqué.

Meanwhile, numerous #Esports media sources have confirmed that Jovanni #Jovi Vera, the former head coach of 100 Thieves, has joined a new VALORANT team after playing for The Barbers, an EU mix team.

KOI Finally Completed

Nobody who pays attention to professional VALORANT was particularly surprised by the signing; starxo had long been rumored as expected to sign with KOI, but was unable to do so concurrently with the rest of the team’s starting squad due to the state of his Acend contract at the time. Now that his contract has expired, he has formally joined the KOI boys.

With the exception of starxo, the whole roster of KOI was formally signed back in mid-December. This included former Guild in-game commander Jose #koldamenta Herrero, flex player Nikita #trexx Cherednichenko, former Gambit/M3C member Bogdan “Sheydos” Naumov, and Berkant #Wolfen Joshkun. André #BARBARR Möller, a former Guild coach, is leading the squad.

The KOI roster is not the only one to have former Guild and M3C players on it. This past offseason, teams like NAVI, Karmine Corp, and Heretics put together potentially excellent lineups, while Fnatic and Team Liquid both bolstered their squads with players from those teams.

But this year’s VCT matches between the KOI and EMEA teams won’t just be against one another. Instead of the customary first of two splits that make up a VCT season, all 30 teams will go to the LOCK/IN event in So Paulo to compete against one another in a three-week-long competition.

Evil Geniuses Situation

Christine #potter Chi, the org’s interim head coach, will no longer be in charge because Jovi will be working with Evil Geniuses as the head coach of the Game Changers team. The male Evil Geniuses team, who will participate in the Americas international competition, will continue to be coached by Potter.

Following continued trials, Jovi, who assisted OpTic Gaming in winning at Stage One Masters in April of last year, is prepared to increase the roster by a few players. Stefanie Jones, Melisa #theia Mundorff, and Juliana #showliana Maransaldi are now employed by the organization.

In October of last year, Evil Geniuses GC participated in the VCT GC Series Three North America. The team’s performance was unsatisfactory as they were defeated by Misfits Black to complete their tournament run in last place and Complexity GX3 in the opening round of the upper bracket.

In November of last year, along with Amanda #rain Smith and Emmalee #EMUHLEET Garrido, the organization cut ties with former head coach David “Xp3” Garrido.

EG joined Game Changers in August of last year, a little later than the majority of companies like Cloud9 or Shopify Rebellion who had established reputations in the area. On August 4, EG acquired the old Dignitas Female roster.

After being let go from 100 Thieves in March of last year, Jovi is about to take on his second head coaching role.
