The German Top 10 Earners of the eSports Scene

Can you really earn money as an eSports pro? Is gaming on the console worth it? Absolutely.

German players are not among the absolute top earners in the global eSports ecosystem, but they do rank in the midfield internationally. We have compiled a list of the ten German eSports pros who have won the highest prize money in the past.

10th place: Tizian “tiziaN” Feldbusch, Counter Strike with 260,000 euros

Tizian Feldbusch has been active in the e-gaming scene since 2012. In the past, he has played for Alternate and MOUZ, among others. Feldbusch made his big breakthrough after switching to BIG. At the Berlin-based company, he has been one of the main gaming pillars since 2018.

9th place: Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann, Dota 2 with around 265,000 euros

KheZu actually comes from Heroes of Newerth, where he was one of the strongest players in the world between 2011 and 2014. Today, Gutmann is active as a Dota 2 pro. He captained Team Quincy Crew 2022 to the top of the North American division. Maurice Gutmann has played The International twice in his career.

8th place: Tobias “ShoWTimE” Sieber, StarCraft 2 with €287,000

ShoWTimE is known in the scene as a wall, defensive player. Tobias Sieber celebrated his biggest victory by winning the WCS Spring Championship in 2016. Since then, Sieber has not really been successful. ShoWTimE is currently the only StarCraft pro under contract with the BIG Clan in Berlin.

Rank 7: Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz, Counter Strike with 311.000 Euro

Johannes Wodarz is one of the founders of BIG. He is the only one who still actively participates in the game. “tabseN” has played for several other organizations in his career before founding his own eSports team.

6th place: Raphael “BunnyHoppor” Peltzer, Hearthstone with 317,000 euros.

BunnyHoppor celebrated his first Hearthstone successes back in 2016. In 2018, Raphael Peltzer won the HCT Summer Championship. A year later, he was in the semi-finals of the World Championship. BunnyHoppor plays for Team Liquid today.

Place 5: Maximilian “qojqva” Bröcker, Dota 2 with 335.000 Euro

Maximilian Bröcker has been playing professionally since 2012, but had retired from the eSports business for a few years. Today, “qojqva” is active for Team Liquid, where he was already signed in 2013 and 2014. Bröcker has earned his prize money mainly with The International participations.

4th place: Mohammed “MoAuba” Harkous, FIFA with 352,000 euros

Mohammed Harkous is by far the best German FIFA player. On Fifa 19, MoAuba has become world champion. Since then, he is considered an absolute legend in the player scene.

3rd place: Jannis “JannisZ” Matwin, Fortnite with 436,000 euros

Jannis Matwin already landed his really big coup as a 15-year-old. He won the FNCS Invitational Europe in May 2020. Since then, “JannisZ” has been a regular at the highest Fortnite events. In doubles, Matwin is currently successful with “Vortex”.

2nd place: Adrian “FATA” Trinks, Dota 2 with 1.27 million euros

Fata was considered the best mid player in Europe in the scene for a long, long time. Adrian Trinks has racked up successes galore. He has played for Team Liquid, Team Secret and Ninjas in Pyjamas in the past. Currently Adrian Trinks has taken a break from active play.

1st place: Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi, Dota 2 with 4.8 million euros

KuroKy is by far the best known and most successful German eSports player. The prize money of almost five million euros speaks for itself. Kuro Takhasomi’s list of victories is as long as the hills. He is the first Dota 2 player in the world to win 1,000 professional games. Takhasomi has already reached the finals of The International three times with two teams.
