Esport Betting Game Depth & Options

eSports betting: The depth of play in eSports and its importance.

Now that the WoW Arena World Champs are over, it’s time for a résumé on my part. During my first bets, I mainly let myself be guided by my betting sponsor without giving it much thought myself. When I look at my placed bets now in retrospect, I notice a few things. Therefore, I would like to conclude by clarifying a few things that I find very helpful as a beginner and that you should understand if you want to get into eSports betting.

Why did I only use win or lose betting predictions?

The first thing I asked myself was why I could only bet on win or lose. Because in comparison with other sports, such as soccer, it is noticeable that there are many more betting options. Think back to my activation bet, for example. Hamburger SV vs Bayern Munich. There we had placed an over/under bet where we bet on a certain number of goals, to be exact over 3.5 goals. There was no such option at all at the WoW Arena World Champs. Of course, I directly approached my betting sponsor and asked him why that was. He explained to me that the betting market around WoW is still quite small and therefore the bookmaker only provides a few betting options.

eSports “main sports” offer game depth of up to 22 options.

On the one hand, it probably does not have enough staff capacity to take care of all the issues, and on the other hand, WoW as an eSport is simply not well-known enough at the moment or not yet in demand enough among customers who place bets. Therefore, the bookmaker limits itself to the simplest betting options, in this case victory or defeat. However, it cannot be said across the board that eSports lags behind sports like soccer in terms of depth of play. Because even in the more well-known eSports markets, several betting options are often offered. Good examples would be CS:GO or LOL. Besides win/lose and over/under bets, there are also so-called handicap bets or card bets. If you are interested in these games, you should definitely familiarize yourself with the different betting options that we have presented in our gaming guides on eSports betting!

eSport: Unknown betting markets still without live bets

What is also missing are live bets. Live bets are always interesting when you follow the match live. If you notice towards the end of the match that the team you bet on is going to lose and probably won’t be able to catch up, it would make sense to quickly place a counter bet. Although this would not help you with your bonus turnover requirements, as counter bets often do not count towards the rollover, it would allow you to compensate for losses and possibly have more money available for betting.

Conclusion: eSports markets are becoming mainstream sports

After my first betting experiences and the know how that my betting mentor gave me, I think that in the next few years, or probably within the next year, more markets in eSports will develop into important main sports markets, which can then also take on main sports like soccer in terms of depth. The well-known eSports markets such as CS, LOL or Dota2 already offer more than two betting options that a real fan can work with in a meaningful way. For the remaining betting markets, bookmakers need to recognize the potential and upgrade game depth in a timely manner. And potential they realize, the more people bet on eSports.
