Champions Shanghai does not start until Sept. 24, but for the teams that missed it, the 2026 VALORANT season is already over – and the roster market has opened early. Within 24 hours, three franchised organisations on two continents put their most recognisable names on the block: KRÜ Esports have allowed in-game leader Matias “saadhak” Delipetro to explore options, while BBL Esports and Eternal Fire have released most of the Turkish players who carried them into VCT EMEA.
saadhak: the rebuild that never got going
saadhak’s exit is the headline. KRÜ signed him last winter as the centrepiece of a full rebuild, reuniting him with fellow 2022 world champion Less, after the club’s first-ever absence from Champions. The plan unravelled before it started. Visa problems kept the entire roster at home until Stage 1, and once the team finally got on stage it looked like one of the best in the Americas – wins over Kickoff champions FURIA and reigning world champions NRG delivered a 4-1 group record. Then KRÜ dropped two straight playoff series and were gone.
A mid-season swap of heat for silentzz did not fix it. KRÜ went 1-4 in Stage 2 groups, lost in the Play-Ins and finished ninth-tenth in the region – a second consecutive year without a Champions appearance. The remaining core is Less, mwzera, Dantedeu5 and heat, with ZONYK as head coach.
The contract detail matters for the market. According to Riot’s global contract database, saadhak is signed through 2027, so any interested team must either negotiate a transfer fee or wait for KRÜ to release him outright. That will not scare off many suitors. He led Team Vikings to Masters Reykjavík and Champions Berlin in 2021, then spent three years with LOUD that produced the Champions Istanbul title, a VCT Americas trophy and four international top-four finishes, followed by a 2025 season with Karmine Corp. A trilingual caller who plays both initiator and controller roles is rare stock in a market that also just saw ENVY clear out keznit, Demon1 and GLYPH. Sentinels fans are already drawing up lineups on the forums, though import limits complicate any move that pairs him with cortezia and johnqt.
BBL dismantle the roster that won Kickoff
The EMEA news is arguably the bigger surprise. BBL Esports have allowed Rosé, lovers rock, Crewen and assistant coach Viento to explore options for 2027, leaving only Lar0k, Loita and head coach KEY under contract. All three players had deals running through 2027.
This is the group that went from Ascension runner-up in 2024 to Ascension champion in 2025 as BBL PCIFIC, was promoted in full, then went undefeated through VCT EMEA Kickoff 2026 and reached the top six at Masters Santiago. The season was uneven after that – a top-eight exit in Stage 1 as the Yoru meta faded, then a top-four run at the Esports World Cup and a 4-1 Stage 2 group – but the year ended one map short: a loss to Fire Flux in the Stage 2 playoffs cost BBL the championship points that would have sent them to Shanghai. Eight months after their peak, the roster is being broken up.
Eternal Fire lose their caller
Across town, Eternal Fire have allowed IGL nekky to explore options. He arrived in VCT via ULF Esports, which won a spot at EMEA Ascension 2025 before Riot removed the organisation from the league over operational issues, with Eternal Fire taking over the slot and the core. The team came fourth in Stage 1, just short of an international, then went out in the Stage 2 Play-Ins. Every EF contract expires at the end of 2026, so nekky is effectively a free agent in January. He has said he wants an initiator role and is open to any region.
What it means for bettors
None of this touches Champions Shanghai – KRÜ, BBL and Eternal Fire are all watching from home. Where it does matter is 2027 Kickoff futures, which most books will not price until rosters are locked in December. The player to track is saadhak: an in-game leader of his pedigree tends to move a mid-table team up a tier, and this offseason already has more high-profile vacancies than usual, with Team Liquid reshuffling before Shanghai and Boaster leaving Fnatic. Until the dust settles, treat any early 2027 EMEA or Americas outright prices as speculative.
