The playoff picture at FISSURE Playground 3 in Suzhou is taking shape. On the first day of stage matches, MIBR dismantled Alliance 2-0 to lock in a semi-final against fellow Brazilians Legacy, while the day before, G2 finally stopped the giant-killing run of Mongolia’s 5star. For anyone following the CS2 tournament scene this weekend, the bracket now has a clear favourite on one side and an open question on the other.
G2 close the door on 5star
5star arrived at the last group-stage elimination match with the scalps of The MongolZ and Astralis already collected, and both halves on Inferno started well for the world number 127. It did not last. G2 treat Inferno as their home map, and once the rifle rounds began, MATYS took over: 38-21 in kills, 106 ADR and a 1.63 rating across the series. Inferno went 13-9, Ancient turned into a 13-4 procession, and G2 booked the last quarter-final spot. Alliance took the other one with a 2-0 over magic, surviving a blown 11-4 lead on Ancient in overtime before eraa and twist made Inferno far more comfortable.
MIBR’s Brazilian core runs riot
The quarter-final itself was one-sided. Alliance picked Inferno and even edged the opening exchanges 4-3 despite losing the pistol, but MIBR strung together five defensive rounds to lead 8-4 at the half and then five more on the attack to close 13-4. nqz posted a 1.90 rating on the map alone, with insani (1.74) and venomzera (1.52) not far behind.
Cache looked briefly different when the Swedes opened with four straight rounds. A triple kill from insani in the middle of a seven-round MIBR streak flipped it to 5-4, the half ended 7-5, and after the switch nqz won a 1v1 for double digits while insani added a quad in a 3v5. Alliance chained four attacking rounds from 5-12 down, but tomaszin’s double opening kill in round 22 ended it 13-9. Across the series the Brazilian trio all sat above 1.40: nqz 1.48, insani 1.43, venomzera 1.42.
The semi-final bracket
Saturday brings Legacy versus MIBR, two teams that know each other intimately, with Legacy having gone straight through as Group B’s top seed. The second semi pits BETBOOM against the winner of Friday’s remaining quarter-final between world number five FURIA and G2. The best-of-five grand final follows on Sunday.
From a betting perspective, MIBR’s form makes Saturday’s derby the more interesting market: Legacy earned the bye, but MIBR arrive with momentum and a rating sheet that shows all five players contributing. Expect the esports bookmakers to price this close to a coin flip, and the FURIA-G2 quarter-final could easily swing the other half of the bracket depending on how G2’s Inferno comfort matches up against the Brazilian favourites.
