Three weeks ago LOUD were a lower-bracket afterthought. On Saturday night in São Paulo they became the last team to punch a ticket to Valorant Champions 2026. A 3-2 win over NRG in the VCT Americas Stage 2 lower final sends the Brazilian side to Shanghai for the first time since 2023 and sets up a grand final against 100 Thieves on Sunday.
Five maps, five different stories
The series opened on Abyss, NRG’s pick, and it looked for a while like the North Americans had solved LOUD’s double-duelist setup. Ethan’s calls powered a 9-3 half for NRG, but LOUD flipped the map after the switch. A lukxo 1v2 tied things at 9-9 and the Brazilians closed 13-10, with in-game leader erde topping the server at a 1.4 rating.
Sunset was tighter at 6-6 before LOUD’s defence took over. Two thrifty rounds broke NRG’s economy and Darker’s Omen performance (25/14/12) carried the map 13-9 for a 2-0 lead.
Then NRG woke up. On Summit they erased an 8-4 deficit with five straight rounds and shut down LOUD’s double-sentinel composition to win 13-9. Haven was even more one-sided: NRG built an 11-4 lead behind mada, skuba and brawk, and a late tkzin ace was not enough to stop a 13-8 result that forced a decider.
Lotus was never close
NRG came into map five riding a 12-map win streak on Lotus. It ended in the least dramatic way possible. LOUD took the pistol, camped C-site and led 9-3 at the half. After the switch they won the pistol again and NRG did not take another round. 13-3, series over, crowd in the stands losing its mind.
The individual numbers tell the story of how balanced LOUD’s run has been. Across the series erde, Darker and lukxo each led a map. NRG’s brawk was the best player on the server on Lotus with a 1.17 rating and still lost 13-3, which says everything about how well LOUD played as a unit.
What it means for Champions
LOUD’s qualification finalises the Americas contingent for Shanghai: 100 Thieves, NRG, G2 and now LOUD. It also confirms Leviatán, who many had pencilled in as a lock in July, will miss the event entirely. For Brazilian fans the bigger picture is a home organisation back on the world stage after two barren seasons, with a roster built around a loanee in tkzin and a Portuguese IGL in erde.
Sunday’s grand final against 100 Thieves is not just a trophy match. The Stage 2 winner gets a favourable Champions seed, which can mean avoiding Karmine Corp or a Chinese powerhouse in the group stage. 100 Thieves swept NRG 2-0 in the upper final on Friday and arrive well rested, while LOUD have played five maps in under 24 hours.
Betting angle
Markets opened with 100 Thieves as favourites, and fatigue is a legitimate factor against LOUD. That said, the Brazilians have won six straight series and just beat the same NRG team that 100 Thieves swept. If you want exposure to the underdog, most esports bookmakers are pricing LOUD at a level that makes a +1.5 map handicap the sensible play rather than the outright.
