Karmine Corp have booked the final ticket to the main event of the League of Legends World Championship. The French organization swept Vietnam’s MVK Esports 3-0 in the Worlds 2026 Play-In final, ending a run that makes the team a first-time Worlds participant and the last club into the 16-team Swiss Stage.
A bumpy road to the final
KC entered the Play-Ins as Europe’s third seed, behind G2 Esports and Movistar KOI, who had already secured places in the main event. Their path was far from smooth: against North America’s third seed, Cloud9, the Europeans lost the opening game before turning the series around. Cloud9 then dropped into a lower-bracket elimination match against FURIA and lost, leaving the North American side in 19th place without a single series win.
MVK, meanwhile, started with a clean 3-0 against Brazil’s FURIA, then fell to Karmine Corp in the winners’ bracket. The Vietnamese team fought back through the lower bracket with a 3-1 rematch win over FURIA, earning another shot at KC in the decider.
How the final played out
The grand final was decided by control in the early and middle game. Kyeahoo took charge of his lane matchup against MVK’s Chika in the first two games, giving KC a lead that the Vietnamese side could not claw back. In game three, MVK tried a chaotic, no-laning style that briefly threatened to turn the game into a coin flip. Busio’s roaming on Leona repeatedly broke up those plans, and Karmine Corp closed out the series through a steady mid-game.
What comes next in Texas
The Swiss Stage starts October 23 in Allen, Texas. Sixteen teams will compete for eight knockout spots, and Karmine Corp land in Pool 4. Their first opponent is Anyone’s Legend, the first seed from China’s LPL, which is a tough draw for a team that has just come through the Play-Ins. KC will have little time to rest, but momentum from a clean final could help.
For fans and bettors who follow the League of Legends scene, the Swiss format tends to reward consistency over a few flashy wins. Teams play several rounds against opponents with similar records, so a single bad series is not always fatal, yet a slow start can quickly narrow the path to the playoffs. A Play-In champion with a freshly built rhythm can be dangerous, though the LPL’s top seed will be a real measure of how far KC can go. Karmine Corp’s story is also a notable one for the European scene: a club with a huge fan following gets its first Worlds main-event appearance, while G2 and Movistar KOI carry the region’s other hopes. Whether KC can turn a Play-In title into a knockout spot will become clear over the coming days in Allen.
