Head coach Lori of Boston Uprising fired prior to the main tournament of Summer Showdown

Hello again! Just like usual, we bring you some of the most interesting news from the world of esports. In this article, we will cover the latest news related to Overwatch, which will probably have a big impact on the current balance of power among the teams.

Kim “Lori” Seung-Hyun, the head coach of the Boston Uprising, has been fired following a particularly difficult stretch in the Overwatch League team’s season. The team’s assistant coach Dennis “Barroi” Matz, quit last week, and now we have this news.

Valentin “Ascoft” Wulfman, the Uprising’s sole remaining coach up to this point, is now the head coach. Ascoft will succeed Lori as head coach for the balance of the 2022 campaign after she steps down. Whether the Uprising will look for another coach to assist with the season’s remaining games is unknown.

Whether you are a fan of the “Boston Uprising,” nobody can deny the influence they have in the Overwatch community. The news about their coach leaving the position on the team came out as a shock to many of the team supporters because although the season had been rocky for the Boston squad, nothing indicated their departure before the end of the contract.

Lori joined the Uprising coaching staff at the start of the current campaign and was hired in the offseason of 2021–2022. His first Overwatch League squad was The Uprising. Before ascending to the OWL, he worked with a few teams after beginning his coaching career in 2018 with Mono Frog. Prior to joining the Uprising, he served as a coach for the South Korean team’s World Game Star Phoenix and Eternal Academy.

The Uprising’s 2022 season hasn’t proven particularly promising. The team has a 1-4 record thus far in the competition and is now in 10th position in the West zone, making it unlikely that they will advance to the Summer Showdown main event. Due to their map difference, they are now ranked 12th out of 13 for the Summer Showdown qualifiers.

This staff change occurs at a time when the league is losing coaches and players as a result of a lack of confidence in the Overwatch League. The organization has not stated whether it will look for a different coach to assist with the remaining games of the season.

The reason why all of this matters in terms of esport betting is that it changes the trajectory of the Boston Uprising and puts a huge question mark not only on the remaining of this season but the next one as well. Considering that it took the squad a couple of months to adjust to a new coach, it is tough to predict when they will be able to get on the winning streak again. In the near future, it would not be the wisest thing to bet on the Boston squad, as they will probably have to get back to the drawing board and reconsider their steps for the upcoming events.
