The Counter-Strike transfer window is moving fast again, and the first days of October have delivered three notable changes while ESL Pro League Season 24 is still in its group stage. Here is what changed, and why it matters for anyone following the CS2 scene.
SunPayus heads from G2 to FUT
The biggest name on the move is Spanish player Álvaro “SunPayus” García, who has transferred from G2 to FUT. For G2 it means losing a player who has been part of its core, while FUT picks up an experienced piece as it tries to establish itself among the established contenders. How quickly the new lineup clicks will be one of the more interesting storylines over the coming weeks, because teams rarely look their best straight after a swap.
siuhy and Liquid part ways
On October 2, Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek separated from Team Liquid. The Polish player’s departure leaves Liquid with a hole to fill at a time when the calendar is crowded, so expect the organisation to move quickly. As of now, no replacement has been confirmed in the sources we follow, so we will not speculate on names.
Snappi joins HEROIC as coach
Not every move involves a player. Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer has left Ninjas in Pyjamas to take on a coaching role at HEROIC. Coaches have become a major factor in modern CS2, from veto strategy to in-game adjustments during timeouts, so this is a signing HEROIC will hope pays off in tight series.
The competitive backdrop
The moves arrive against a clear hierarchy. In the HLTV world ranking Spirit leads with 1000 points, followed by Vitality (676), FURIA (524), MOUZ (518) and Falcons (478). Vitality recently ended a long trophy drought by winning StarSeries Fall 2026, so the gap to the top is far from unbridgeable. Falcons’ NiKo was named player of the week with an average of 92.9 damage per round, a reminder that star power still decides a lot of maps.
In ESL Pro League Season 24, the group stage is still running, and it has also become a fantasy talking point: donk is reportedly the second-most-picked player despite carrying a $250,000 price tag. Several teams, including BCG and 100 Thieves, were already eliminated from the ROG JOURNEY group stage, which shows how thin the margin for error is at this level.
What is next on the calendar
The schedule does not slow down. The Thunderpick World Championship 2026 is roughly 11 days away, PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 follows about 21 days from now, and IEM Beijing 2026 is around 30 days out. Newly formed rosters will have very little practice time before the first of these, which can create real uncertainty in matchups.
A note for bettors
Roster changes are exactly the kind of news that moves odds. A team with a fresh player or a new coach is harder to price, and early results often say more about adjustment time than true strength. If you are comparing markets, it helps to check the offers of different esports bookmakers and read the terms before you play. Please bet responsibly and only with money you can afford to lose.
