Vitality are the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 champions. The European powerhouse closed out the Barcelona event on Sunday with a 3-1 grand final victory over Aurora, taking Anubis 13-4, dropping Inferno 11-13, and then running away with Mirage 13-4 and Cache 13-7. It caps a Counter-Strike weekend that looked very different 24 hours earlier, when the same Aurora side had knocked Vitality into the lower bracket.
From upper-bracket collapse to lower-bracket revenge
Saturday’s upper final was a warning sign. Aurora beat Vitality 2-1, and the story of that series was Vitality’s attack: they managed just six T-side rounds across three maps and failed to win a single one on Anubis. Aurora’s new roster around in-game leader kyxsan, Finnish rifler Jimpphat and coach ash was playing only its fifth event together and had reached its first final by beating the biggest name in the field.
Vitality’s route back ran through FURIA. In Sunday’s consolidation final the Brazilians gambled on the veto, leaving Anubis open and banning Dust2 instead. Vitality took the punish pick and won 2-0 (13-5 Cache, 13-8 Anubis). ropz opened with a Five-Seven multi-kill on Cache, ZywOo locked down the A site with the AWP, and flameZ and apEX added 1v2 clutches. FURIA coach sidde explained afterwards that the plan was to try a different map pool against Vitality; it did not pay off, and FURIA finish third after earlier wins over MOUZ and MIBR.
How the grand final played out
The best-of-five began on Aurora’s own Anubis pick, the map where Vitality had been shut out on the attack a day earlier. This time Vitality flipped the script completely, taking it 13-4 on the back of a 9-3 first half. Aurora hit back on Inferno, edging Vitality’s pick 13-11 after a 7-5 half in their favour, and for a moment it looked like another long night for the favourites.
Then Vitality found another gear. Mirage, Aurora’s second pick, went 13-4, with Aurora not winning a single round in the second half. Cache followed at 13-7, and the trophy was Vitality’s without Nuke, the decider that had cost them the upper final, ever being needed.
ZywOo does ZywOo things
Across the four maps ZywOo posted 71 kills against 44 deaths, a 95.3 ADR and a 1.51 rating, including a monstrous 2.01 on Mirage. flameZ (1.28), ropz (1.19) and mezii (1.18) all finished well above average, and only apEX, carrying the in-game leading load, dipped below 1.0. On the Aurora side Wicadia (1.15) was the only player to finish the series in positive territory, while XANTARES struggled at 0.69.
For a Vitality team that routinely starts as the favourite in esports bookmakers’ pre-match markets, the result restores some order after a shaky Saturday. For Aurora, a runner-up finish in the roster’s fifth event, with wins over NAVI, NRG and Vitality along the way, is a strong signal that this project has a high ceiling.
What it means for the season
StarSeries Fall was one of the last major LAN stops before attention turns to the 2027 Major cycle, which Perfect World confirmed this week will return to Shanghai. Vitality leave Barcelona with momentum, Aurora leave with proof of concept, and FURIA leave with questions about how to break the Vitality wall after losing to them twice in one event.
