Shanghai gets its second Major in three years

The first Major of 2027 will be organized by FiReSPORTS in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It will be the first Counter-Strike Major held in South America, a region that has produced passionate crowds at events in Brazil and Argentina but has never hosted the game’s most prestigious tournament. Bringing a Major to Argentina and then to China in a single year continues Valve’s push to take the circuit beyond its traditional European and North American strongholds, after Shanghai 2024 and the 2025 and 2026 events in Austin, Budapest and Cologne broadened the map.

The plans for 2028 already appear to be settled as well, with reports pointing to BLAST and ESL winning the bids for that year’s two Majors, so the rotation between smaller regional organizers and the established circuit operators looks set to continue.
