The StarSeries brand is back on the calendar. StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 begins on Thursday, September 17 in Barcelona, and it packs an unusually dense field into four days: eight teams, a straight double-elimination bracket and a $500,000 prize pool. For anyone following the CS2 betting scene, it is the last meaningful LAN before the autumn calendar fills up with Thunderpick World Championship and PGL Masters Bucharest.
Who is playing
Four teams were invited directly: MOUZ, Vitality, Natus Vincere and FURIA. The other four earned their spot through regional qualifiers. Aurora and magic came through the European qualifier, MIBR won the South American route and NRG took the North American slot. That leaves a field with two clear favourites in Vitality and MOUZ, two established top-tier sides in NaVi and FURIA, and four teams for whom a semi-final would already count as a strong result.
Format and schedule
There is no group stage. Every match is a best-of-three, with the exception of Sunday’s best-of-five grand final. Losing an opener is not fatal, but it means a long route through the lower bracket. The opening day pairings are MOUZ against NRG at 12:00, Vitality against magic at 14:30, Natus Vincere against Aurora at 17:00 and FURIA against MIBR at 19:30 (all CEST). The bracket then plays out through Friday and Saturday before the final on September 20.
The money
StarLadder is splitting the $500,000 into two identical pots, one for the players and one for the organisations. Each pot pays $100,000 to the winner, $65,000 for second, $35,000 for third and $20,000 for fourth, with $10,000 for fifth to sixth and $5,000 for seventh to eighth. In practice, the champion walks away with $200,000 in total, which is a substantial cheque for a four-day event.
magic lose AW to visa trouble
The biggest pre-event story concerns the European qualifier winners. magic announced that Andrey “AW” Anisimov will not travel to Spain because of visa issues. Stepping in is the team’s coach, Danila “eksiver” Yurkov, who joined in May and has barely any recorded competitive maps in the past year and a half. That is a harsh blow for a team that had been trending upwards, having attended the Esports World Cup and picked up wins over PARIVISION and FaZe at FISSURE Playground 3. Their opener against Vitality with a coach in the server looks like one of the most lopsided matches of day one.
Storylines to watch
MOUZ arrive with a reshuffled structure and torzsi has spoken about the new setup around xertioN and sycrone bringing out the best in him. NRG’s nitr0 has been candid that any win in Barcelona would matter a great deal for a North American side still looking for a signature result against European opposition. Vitality, meanwhile, are the default pick in most markets, and in a double-elimination bracket their depth is even more valuable, since one bad map does not end the run.
For bettors, the format matters. Best-of-three openers and a lower bracket reward consistency over a single hot day, and the price on an outright winner should reflect that Vitality and MOUZ can afford one slip. If you are shopping for a welcome bonus before the weekend, a compact eight-team LAN with a clear favourite hierarchy is a reasonable place to test it.
HLTV is also running a seasonal Fantasy game for the event with skin prizes, and will have staff on site in Barcelona for interviews and coverage across the four days.
