eSport Battle: Football tournaments with steadily increasing viewer numbers

Will cyber soccer outstrip the games played on the green pitch? No, it certainly won’t get that far. Nonetheless, the development of eSoccer is worth noting. Viewer numbers for eSport battles have skyrocketed in recent months. From September to October alone, there was an increase of 29 percent. The trend is likely to become even more entrenched in the coming months and years.

Real soccer pushes cyber soccer

If you look a little closer at the statistics for the past few years, you’ll notice that, interestingly enough, it was “real” soccer that caused the cyber numbers to rise. After the top events, the popularity of eSoccer games such as esport Battle has jumped, for example, after the European Football Championship in the summer.

Of course, there is no hiding the fact that the eSoccer games benefited from the complete soccer Corona break. Those who wanted to watch soccer live inevitably had to switch to the eSoccer games.

Twitch and Youtube – the livestream channels

The livestreams are the key component for all eSoccer tournaments and leagues. The matches are also broadcast on Twitch and/or Youtube. You can watch live matches around the clock. The spectator momentum in eSoccer is not only due to the fan influx. The eSports leagues are also becoming more and more interesting for sports bettors, which we will get to in the following.

The most important eSoccer League in the world

The most important eSoccer league is Liga Pro, which is also in first place by a wide margin in livestream broadcasts. The Liga Pro is played in tournament form. Five teams from the pool of 17 teams always take part in a competition. In the group stage, all clubs have to play each other in first and second legs, i.e. there are ten match days. The final round is followed by semifinal matches, the match for third place and the final. The matches will be played in a day session (starting at 9:30 a.m.), in the evening round (starting at 4:30 p.m.) and in the night session (starting at 11:30 p.m.).

Complete rethink at the DFB

“Football belongs on the green pitch and has nothing to do with other things that are computer-related”.

The quote comes from former DFB president Reinhard Grindel in 2019, but in the meantime, a rethink has begun at the headquarters of German soccer on the subject of eSport Battle. Several Bundesliga clubs – such as 1. FSV Mainz 05, VfL Bochum and RB Leipzig – now have their own eSoccer teams. The DFB is currently in the process of creating a league system for eSoccer, starting at the state, regional and even national level.

The eSoccer importance for sports betting

The eSport Battles are a real paradise for the bookmakers and the sports bettors. Soccer teams from the Bundesliga or the Premier League are on the pitch a maximum of two times a week. In eSoccer, the frequency is significantly higher. In the Pro League, the teams have to play six times a day. This results in “countless” betting offers and odds. You have permanently a suitable selection of eSoccer bets on the screen. The best bookmakers have almost all relevant tournaments and leagues in their program. Even the eSoccer friendly matches can be bet on.

The types of bets for esport Battle are comparable to soccer. You can bet on the main market 1X2, double chance, handicaps, goals over/under bets and many other options. The plus point is the fast betting settlement. While in League Pro 2 x 12 minutes are played, in other series the game times are even less, for example 2 x 6 minutes or 2 x 4 minutes.
