Teams from both Europe and North America have recently started a trend of bringing in reinforcements, and their moves have shaken up the entire Rocket League market, as well as the entire gaming community.
Oxygen Esports went on to look for a new team, after unveiling their 2021–22 roster. This move was inspired by many different factors, and they are hoping it will bring a new wave of success to the franchise.
Prior to the RLCS Season 2022–23, Oxygen Esports signed the trio of Joris “Joreuz” Robben, Ole “oaly,” and Archie “archie” Pickthall. The organization will leave North America after an 18-month presence and head back to Europe.
OXG’s return to EU is sure to guarantee a breath of fresh air for the region and ensure that there is another top team vying for dominance on the international stage. This is especially true given the signing of Archie, Joreuz, and Oaly as well as the regional swaps we’ve seen so far in the wrapping up of this off season.
The Road So Far
Victor “Ferra” Francal, Emil “fruity” Moselund, and Thibault “Chausette45” Grzesiak were acquired by Oxygen Esports from Team Reciprocity in May 2020. At the time, Team Reciprocity was struggling financially during the COVID-19 era. In the offseason, they swiftly switched fruity out for Mallo “AztraL” Ernst, and during RLCS X, they participated in two big online European tournaments.
In March 2021, the organization chose to break ways with their European roster and made the decision to cross the Atlantic to sign Jamal Jabary, who was coached by Kais “Sadjunior” Zehri and featured Eli “Toastie” Nichols, Logan “Lj.” Wilt, Trentin “Kraziks” Wade, and Eli “Toastie” Nichols.
In May 2020, Oxygen Esports acquired Victor “Ferra” Francal, Emil “fruity” Moselund, and Thibault “Chausette45” Grzesiak from Team Reciprocity. During the COVID-19 era, Team Reciprocity was having financial difficulties.
They quickly replaced fruity with Mallo “AztraL” Ernst during the offseason, and during RLCS X, they took part in two significant online European competitions. By signing the recently established trio of archie, oaly, and Joreuz, Oxygen Esports has decided to continue a project in Europe after parting ways with its North American lineup.
