Dota 2 Offseason Shake-Up: Topson Returns to OG, LGD Goes Veteran, Falcons Exit

The Dota 2 offseason is in full swing, and the post-International reshuffle is already reshaping the competitive map. With the new 2026–2027 season underway and events such as BLAST Slam 8 and PGL Wallachia Season 9 on the calendar, teams are using every window to rebuild. Here is what has changed in the Dota 2 scene over the past weeks, based on reporting from Dot Esports.

Veterans return, rosters get rebuilt

The most nostalgic headline is Topson rejoining OG after three years away, a move that ties the organisation back to its roots for the 2026–2027 season. OG’s name still carries enormous weight with fans, and a familiar face in the lineup will keep expectations high.

LGD has gone for experience as well: the organisation added SumaiL and Sneyking ahead of PGL Wallachia Season 9. It is an unusual pairing of well-known names, and it will be interesting to see how quickly they gel under tournament pressure.

Elsewhere, ATF has signed with Team Yandex for the new season. That deal follows Team Liquid’s decision to part ways with Ace, with ATF having been rumoured as the offlane replacement before he ended up at Yandex. BetBoom Team, meanwhile, has brought TORONTOTOKYO back as coach, and Save- is moving to the mid lane.

Big names leave the scene

Not every story is about arrivals. Virtus.pro disbanded its Dota 2 roster after The International 2026, although the organisation says it will remain active in esports. Team Falcons also exited Dota 2 altogether, citing long-term sustainability as the reason. Two high-profile departures in a short span are a reminder of how demanding the economics of the scene can be.

What it means for the season

With so many lineups changing at once, early-season results will be harder to predict than usual. New rosters need time to build communication, and role swaps like Save- moving to mid can take several events to settle. Established teams may start strongly on chemistry alone, while rebuilt squads could be inconsistent until they find their rhythm.

For fans who follow the betting side of the game, that uncertainty is worth keeping in mind. Newly formed teams are a genuine unknown, so treat any bet as entertainment and only stake what you can afford to lose. Gambling is for adults only.

We will keep tracking roster news as the new Dota 2 season takes shape.
