The field for the 2026 Game Changers Championship is filling up fast. Shopify Rebellion Gold secured North America’s direct ticket to São Paulo with a 3-1 grand-final win over FlyQuest RED at the Game Changers NA Stage 2 LAN on Thursday, while in Bali the VALORANT Game Changers Pacific event produced a Japan-versus-Korea final that, unusually, both teams enter already qualified. A third region, China, crowns its champion on Sunday as well.
Shopify do it again – without their star
Shopify Rebellion Gold have been the reference point in North American Game Changers for years, and the FlyQuest RED rivalry has become the circuit’s defining matchup: the two sides have now met a dozen times since the start of 2024. This series followed a familiar pattern. FlyQuest RED took the opening map in dominant fashion, 13-3, before Shopify clawed back three straight maps, each decided by only two or three rounds.
Remarkably, Shopify played the final without Noia, one of their most consistent performers, after the organisation announced days earlier that sarahcat would step in as an emergency substitute. Rather than weaken the roster, the change barely registered on the scoreboard: sarahcat was widely credited with a standout series alongside dodonut, vanitas, glowstick and alexis.
FlyQuest RED’s head coach, Coach Joe, was frank in a post-match interview with VLR.gg, arguing that his team lost the crucial eco and swing rounds to its own decision-making rather than to anything Shopify did differently. He also described Shopify as the team to beat in Game Changers, a view the results have supported all season.
FlyQuest RED get a second chance in the Americas LCQ
The defeat is not the end of FlyQuest RED’s season. As North America’s top points-holder, the team drops into the Game Changers Americas Last Chance Qualifier, a two-day event starting October 14 at the Riot Games Studio in São Paulo. There they will face MIBR GC from Brazil and Akave Esports GC from Latin America for a single remaining Championship berth. Coach Joe already expects MIBR to be the opponent in the decisive match.
Pacific: FENNEL GC vs Gen.G GC, with both already through
The Game Changers Pacific event at the AYANA Resort in Bali carries a $20,000 prize pool, but the real prize is the two Championship slots handed to the top two finishers. FENNEL GC of Japan cruised through the upper bracket, beating wiwiwi 2-0, Gen.G GC 2-1 and Team Falcons Vega 2-0 without dropping a series.
Gen.G GC took the hard road. After the upper-semifinal loss to FENNEL, the Korean side won three elimination series in a row: 2-1 over Australia’s swaglord9000, 2-1 over FULL SENSE SISU of the Philippines, and finally a full five-map 3-2 thriller against Team Falcons Vega in the lower final. Falcons Vega, the top seed out of Southeast Asia, exit in third place with $3,000.
The grand final on Sunday is therefore about the trophy, the $5,000 winner’s cheque and seeding. Bookmakers have generally leaned towards FENNEL given their unbeaten run, but Gen.G GC’s momentum after four straight must-win series makes this a tighter contest than the bracket suggests. China’s final and the Championship picture
China also decides its representative on Sunday: Havoc & Yonder GC, unbeaten through the upper bracket, meet Nova Esports GC, who won three lower-bracket series including a 3-1 over Yew Reign Gaming in the lower final. Only one Chinese slot is on offer.
Once the weekend is over, eight of the ten Championship participants will be known: Team Liquid Brazil, G2 Gozen, Gentle Mates GC and SK Nebula from EMEA, KRÜ BLAZE from Latin America, Shopify Rebellion Gold, FENNEL GC and Gen.G GC, plus the Chinese champion. The Americas LCQ winner completes the field. The Game Changers Championship runs from October 22 to November 2 at the Riot Games Studio in São Paulo.
