Team Secret’s 2026 VALORANT season ended in the bottom four of the Pacific league, and the fallout is now arriving in waves. Within the space of a week, the Philippine organisation has allowed in-game leader Tidus “STYRON” Goh to explore his options, seen head coach Peter “Spin” Bradford announce that he is looking for a new home for 2027, and let analyst skye test the market as well. What is left is a roster of four players and a manager, with two of those four also on expiring deals.
A mid-season rebuild that never got going
Secret’s year was a struggle from the start. Through Kickoff and Stage 1 the team collected a single victory, which triggered a mid-season overhaul ahead of Stage 2: two players were swapped out, the head coach was replaced by Spin, and STYRON arrived to take over the calling duties. The Singaporean had spent the spring with Bilibili Gaming’s academy squad, XLB, where he dominated the Rest-of-SEA qualifiers before that side withdrew from Challengers and left him briefly without a team.
The new-look Secret did improve, but only marginally. The team went 1-4 in the Stage 2 group stage, added one win in the Play-Ins, and was eliminated to finish 13th-16th in Pacific for the year. According to Riot’s Global Contract Database, STYRON’s contract simply ran to the end of the 2026 season, and Secret chose not to extend. In his farewell post he stressed that the Stage 2 experience has left him confident he can both frag and call at the top level.
Spin wants an org built for the open era
Spin’s departure is arguably the more telling move. The veteran coach has been around VALORANT since 2020, was Global Esports’ assistant and later head coach in the early partnership years, and joined Secret from Motiv Esports midway through 2026 after guiding Motiv to SEA Split 1 and the ROSEA qualifier this year. His public statement made clear that he is chasing an organisation that is serious about international events, and he pointed to his teams winning three of their last four online open tournaments as evidence he can navigate the new open format.
That framing matters. With VCT 2027’s Open Qualifiers starting in November, coaches with a proven track record in open events suddenly have leverage, while a partner-adjacent organisation that finished 13th-16th in its region has considerably less. Spin also said he is open to every region, with a preference for APAC and China, and that he is currently learning Chinese, which will not go unnoticed by CN organisations weighing their options.
What remains, and what comes next
Secret’s current line-up consists of Kelly “kellyS” Sedillo, Jonathan “natz” Adiputra, Jhian “Zeus” Vega and Go “Sylvan” Young-sup, plus manager yamyam yui. Contract data suggests natz and Sylvan are also out of contract this offseason, while Zeus runs until 2027 and kellyS until 2028. In other words, the only two players Secret are certain to control next season are the two on the longest deals, and the organisation still has no coach, no analyst and no in-game leader.
The bigger question is whether Team Secret intends to compete in VCT Pacific at all in 2027. The partnership programme moves to a new two-year cycle with updated selection criteria, and Secret’s results over the last two seasons make renewal far from guaranteed. The alternative is the open qualifier route, which would require building a competitive SEA roster from scratch in under two months.
Betting angle: Pacific off-season chaos
For anyone following Pacific VALORANT betting markets, Secret’s implosion is one piece of a wider picture. Rex Regum Qeon have parted with head coach Jovi, PCIFIC have dropped al0rante and an assistant coach, and bipo has entered restricted free agency. Champions Shanghai starts on September 24 without any of these teams involved, so none of this affects the immediate outrights, but it will shape Kickoff 2027 odds once bookmakers start pricing the new season. Rosters assembled in a hurry through the open qualifiers tend to be volatile early on, which historically produces more value on underdogs in the opening weeks than at any other point of the year.
