ZETA DIVISION has claimed the Overwatch Midseason Championship at the Esports World Cup 2026, beating Twisted Minds 4-2 in a best-of-seven Grand Final to cap off a five-day event in Paris that carried a $1,000,000 prize pool and vital OWCS Club Championship points.
The tournament ran from July 29 to August 2 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, bringing together the top 16 teams from every OWCS region — Korea, Japan, Pacific, North America, EMEA, China, and South America. The format split the field into two eight-team double-elimination groups, with the top four from each group advancing to a single-elimination playoff bracket. Every match up to the final was best-of-five; the Grand Final alone was stretched to best-of-seven.
ZETA’s route to the title ran through the Asian bracket, where the roster had already been dominant all year, having won OWCS Korea Stage 1, OWCS Korea Stage 2, and the OWCS Asia Stage 1 Championship coming into the event. In the playoffs, ZETA dropped just one map series all weekend, sweeping T1 3-0 in the semifinal before closing out Twisted Minds 4-2 in the decider on Sunday.
Twisted Minds, runners-up, took home $180,000 and 750 Club Championship points for their run, while T1 finished third for $100,000 and 500 points. Weibo Gaming rounded out the top four. Notably, defending Midseason champions Team Falcons — who lost star DPS duo Proper and Stalk3r ahead of this event — were eliminated in the group stage, as were perennial contenders Crazy Raccoon, who fell 0-3 to T1 in the playoffs.
The event’s hero ban system also drew attention: each team banned one hero per map, with bans required to come from a different role than the opponent’s previous ban, and repeat bans on the same hero disallowed within a series, though mirroring an opponent’s ban was permitted. The higher seed banned first each game, and after that, whichever team lost the previous map took priority on bans — a small rule that shaped several map picks in the final.
For bettors tracking the OWCS season, this result reshuffles the market considerably. ZETA now enters the second half of 2026 as a clear favorite heading into the season-ending Championship Clash, having stacked Stage wins on top of a Midseason title with a roster that has barely dropped a series all year. Twisted Minds’ consistent deep runs also make them a live underdog price worth watching, while the early exits for Falcons and Crazy Raccoon suggest sportsbooks may need time to correct pre-tournament odds that still favored the old guard.
