After a few weeks of hiatus, the Dota Pro Circuit is set to take off once again, with the Captains Draft Minor scheduled for January 4-7. The Minor, held in DC Armory, Washington DC, will feature an eight-team line-up fighting for a $300,000 prize pool and 300 Qualifying Points. Participating teams include directly invited Team Secret and Evil Geniuses; complexity Gaming from North America; OG from Europe; Team Empire from CIS; ViCi Gaming from China; Mineski from Southeast Asia, and last, but definitely not the least, paiN Gaming from South America.
Of the eight-teams, Team Secret stands out as the team to beat here. Though each of the other 7 teams are equally capable, Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov and his international crew are in a league of their own. Lest we forget, they dropped just a single game en route to winning the ROG DreamLeague Major, a dominanting performance, topped off with a 3-0 sweep of the reigning TI champions, Team Liquid, in the Grand Finals.
Bet365 currently have Team Secret at 11/8 odds to win the tournament outright. Their closest competitors are ViCi Gaming and OG, who are at 7/2 and 4/1 odds respectively. Meanwhile, for those looking for a worthy dark-horse candidate, it’s a three-way tie between Evil Geniuses, CompLexity Gaming and Mineski. However Mineski should technically have the upper hand, by virtue of their previous acheivements and the fact that Evil Geniuses are likely going to need time to adjust to their latest roster changes.
